Where Is My Ambition?

I do not find myself ambitious, others might say I am, which I doubt. If they did I would respond with that I am for the things I enjoy, such as my model kits and unlike english class. I do not believe that I am a good writer, as that is my excuse for procrastinating this blog till the day it was due. At the same time instead of trying to get better, I play video games and waste even more time. I view ambition, alone, as if it is motivation. Sometimes I am motivated by music and other times it becomes a distraction for me. I believe it is a very honorable thing to be respectful and trustful to other people and ideas. So I am motivated to be respectful and trustful.

This may sound cold, but I do not respect or trust my younger brother. You ask why? Because I hate how he can lie about anything just so he doesn’t have to do any work, this includes school. When I was typing this my parents and my younger brother were arguing about how he is doing in school. My parents ask “I asked you about E Learning, here you are missing an E Learning?” My brother responds “But I did not have my computer because it was getting worked on.” And when he gets defeated, he normally mumbles under his breath, getting in more trouble and making things worse.

I am out of ideas that I can type about and still be related to the topic, so I will expand on what I believe I am ambitious about. That being the model kits mentioned above, along with radio control vehicles. I wish to expand by getting a computer, new radio control airplane, start with radio control boats, or continue with radio control cars. Yet at the same time I need to budget for things more important like my own car or the trips I take.

Competition

When is competition good, and when is it bad? Competition is great when you need to push yourself to do or be better. At the same time, too much competition can lead to arguments or fights that have the potential of damaging or ruining your relationships. Take a game of chess for example, even though I lose every match I still play against my friend to push myself to be better and eventually win a match. Competition is also what keeps products quality high and prices low.

In my life, competition can be seen in the games I play and the hobbies I have. One hobby of mine, is building model kits. The picture above (left), is the last one that I have completely built, but I have another three to build still. This hobby of mine has grown a long way from how I first started. I started with a Camaro (2002) that had only the body and head lights. Now I am building near full detail models (like the two above), meaning that I paint all the small details that the factory includes for you.

I am not yet at the point where I use really small wire to replicate things like fuel line and wires, or do crazy good and complex paint patterns, but I have a paint scheme that I want to try. I do not enter any type of contest for models, but I want to achieve that scale of detail and quality that competitors have mastered.

School Status

Schools are filled with cliques and groups of people. You have jocks, nerds, gamers, and so on. While everyone is different, most people fit into a clique because they bond over something they enjoy like sports, learning, and gaming. In the High School Musical series, they sing a song about the status quo and how you should stick to it because it is what you know.

A status quo is very similar to stereotyping which is another way of labeling people. Stereotypes found in schools are labeled exactly like the status quo groups, Jocks, nerds, gamers, and so on. Stereotypical jocks are good at sports but not much else, stereotypical nerds are extremely smart but usually get made fun of, and lastly stereotypical gamers are always eating junk food and playing video games instead of doing anything else productive.

The status quo can be harmful because it causes people to hide what they truly love just as Troy does with his singing. Troy is influenced by music but hides it because he is afraid that his dad will hate him. This causes his dad to form the misconception that Troy wants to go on to play pro league basketball and eventually Troy has to tell him the truth. Hiding his true love for music and theater was a great hardship for Troy.

The status quo and stereotypes are topics that should be addressed because every person is unique in their own way. They should not feel like they have to live up to being a certain way. People should feel comfortable to be themselves. Schools and other big social groups cause this to become difficult because you are constantly under the watch of others. Overall, do not let others tell you what you can and can not do, do whatever you want.

The Next Step

Some people say things about the future that are complete lies, while others are facts and all others in between. Also many things and advances are to happen in the future no matter how far into the future you look. Such as new vehicles, new buildings and architect or aviation. Some are already a real thing and not just a concept. Making the phrase “The future is now” true to me. That can be proven by the vehicles that have now made it, that are really awesome to me I mean just look up the TMC Dumont, it first appeared in March of 2018. If you do not it is a motorcycle designed by Taso Marques, a former Formula 1 racer, that features an airplane engine and hubless 36in wheels.

Some plans that I have would be to get a new RC truck known as the Losi 5ive T and a better RC drone like a Rotor Riot Remix, but due to financial reasons have been put off for the future. I have thought about and wanted to build and or fix a real vehicle, like a 60s Ford Mustang, yet again financial reasons and skills are the issue. After high school like many I do plan on going to collage but I do not have a certain choice made yet and am still deciding. What I do know though is that it will be anywhere from programming a car to the design of an aircraft, meaning that it would be for an industrial side of things.

The Life

Some might say that I am shy or that I isolate myself. And I do sometimes agree with that. Being that after school gets out, I just get on the bus and go home. Once home, I will normally be playing video games on my phone in my bedroom, then some homework or work around the house if needed. When super comes around, I will finally be upstairs for a decent amount of time. However right after, I leave to either finish homework or play more video games, this time though on our X Box One. Such as     Forza Horizon 4 which has released October 1st, 2018.

When the weather is favorable, I will start or continue to build a model. The models that I have built or am building includes a custom 2011 Chevy Camaro, 1968 Corvette Roadster, custom 1948 Ford Woody, 1966 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500, 2005 Ford GT, W900 Ken Worth, Hot Wheels 1993 Chevy Camaro SCCA Race Car, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari 360 Modena Spider, Ferrari Enzo. This is also around the time when I get back into RC. My current RC collection is of a Traxxas Slash 2wd, Traxxas Slash 2wd VXL, Horizon Hobby Sport Cub S, Horizon Hobby Super Cub S, Propel Quantum HD.

While I do still socialize, it can probably be called minimum or uncommon. For example, at lunch I will most likely sit alone if no one I know is there with me, however I will still talk with people during flex and so on. So far I have been able to meet with one of my old friends from Rockford at least once a month, I think. I have not hung out with anyone from Litchfield outside of school.

The New Guy

One day their was a new boy, this boy had just transferred schools. He had switched to a school an hour away from his old school, all because his parents thought it would be better to have a house on a lake then a house and cabin. He thought the lake was slightly under okay, being that it was green nearly every day, but liked their previous cabin’s lake  a lot much better. On the first day of school when lunch came around, he did not know anyone to sit by. So he just sat down at a table with a few students, a week later they were good friends and talked much about video games.

After a few weeks he knew who to stay away from by simply their actions. When he had the freedom of choosing a group he would let others pick him instead of trying to pick them. At the middle of that year other students would say hello and he would reply hello but would not normally continue or start the conversation. Joining an activity helped him much in meeting new students. He knew at close to half the grade at the end of the year but he would not call most of them his friends.

This relates to the book KILLING MR.GRIFFIN by comparing the main character, Susan, and the boy because they both just wanted to fit in. While both got a group to hang out with, Susan’s group was using her for her innocence and the boy’s was just being accepting.
